Design and Prediction of Detection Range for PIR(Passive InfraRed) Lens Using Optical Simulation Program

Août 28, 2020

Recently, development inquiries for passive-infrared(PIR) lenses continue. In general, PIR(Passive Infrared) lenses are arranged in a x b array with a number of Fresnel lenses.

PIR(Passive InfraRed) lenses are usually not flat and are mostly round or square. In addition, separate materials should be used that can be passed on to the FIR(Far Infrared). And if there are multiple Fresnel lens patterns in it, it’s hard to model and simulate accurately with an optical design program.

FresnelFactoryKorea has developed PIR lenses using Fresnel patterns. Detailed modeling was carried out through the optical design program, and additionally the detection range through the lens could be predicted.

Using optical design program, we modeled curved lenses with a Fresnel pattern. It was designed with a 3D design program because it was impossible to use only an optical design program.

We designed and arranged the Fresnel pattern according to the detection area that the customer wants. It was also designed considering mold production and injection, and was designed with suitable material for wavelengths.

The following are the simulation results for the detection range. This is an analysis of how much area is detected at that distance.

In the design of the Fresnel pattern, we proceeded with Tip radius and angle optimization considering the actual mold making and injection conditions.

FresnelFactoryKorea is a professional optical company that designs and manufactures optical systems with specifications that customers want through optical simulation programs.
